Koh Samui – An Absolute Paradise
Is your wedding around the corner, and you are confused where to go for your honeymoon? Probably a place that leaves your friends and family in awe? Plan a trip to Koh Samui, Thailand!
As cliché as it may sound, the reality of Samui is the same as fantasy. Away from the hustle bustle of cities, this serene and tranquil island is the best honeymoon destination one can ever go to. Beautiful, shallow blue-green water, white sandy beaches, incredible weather, breathtaking views, luxurious resorts and full moon parties, all define Koh Samui perfectly.
Koh Samui was our third and the longest stop of the trip. We had been running around cities for the rest of our trip, and figured that we needed a 6 days-peaceful escape to relax. From what we were told, Koh Samui is a small and underdeveloped island compared to Phuket. There are not many places to visit within Samui however, there are many tour companies that offer day and night trips to nearby islands.
Most of the tourists mostly prefer to stay in resorts and reside on premises, except when they are taking trips out of town. After a lot of research, we chose to stay in Executive Pool Villa of Baan Haad Ngam Boutique Resort and do not regret it one bit. While we two are not the homebound type, and prefer hanging out mostly, by this time of the trip, we were actually quite happy to stay within our resort and enjoy each other’s presence along the beautiful beaches.
A glimpse of the Executive Pool Villa of Baan Haad Ngam Resort
Each Pool Villa is actually its own little house, having all facilities. Private pool, deck, TV, private Internet router, mini fridge that was refreshed every morning and coffee/tea machine. Moreover, the resort has a restaurant, fitness area, common pool, lounge areas and other amenities to make sure the guests have everything at their disposal.
The hotel serves breakfast in its restaurant situated on the beach. The food, ambience and the breathtaking view, made it an unforgettable experience all together. Baan Haad Ngam also offers a free shuttle service twice a day to Central Festival Shopping Mall at Chaweng Beach. All these services made attractions of Koh Samui very accessible for us. Most of our time in Samui was spent either at the resort, lounging in our beach chair, or in nearby areas trying different restaurants and exploring a plethora of different beaches.
One piece of advice – rent a motorbike when in Koh Samui, as it is the best, and most affordable way to get around. Also, tell your hotel staff that you are on your honeymoon, and they will go out of their way to make your trip more special and unforgettable. We were offered a pick and drop service to the airport, complimentary welcome drink, flower bouquet and corsage. They also decorated the room in the most beautiful way ever. We were literally on cloud nine.
We also took a day trip to Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan. I will give the details of that trip in my next post because I won’t be able to do justice to the scenic beauty and serenity that we experienced in this post.
All in all, these 6 days were the highlight of our 16 day trip. 2 countries, 4 cities, but nothing beats our stay in Koh Samui. A highly recommended place for all couples out there who want to make the most of their honeymoon trips.
